Here's a picture of me & Tim Welch at one of the Haunted shoots. We were playing upstairs at Rancho Relaxo in Toronto, where we shot the party scene and a few of the "fan" interviews. Tim is playing a classic black Gibson Les Paul Custom in this scene ... as a matter of fact, Tim played a different guitar in every scene he was in. Me, I think I played the Lado you see here in every scene. It was perfect: what could be more evil than a pointy bass? Purple sunburst and all ... Kiner didn't like my axe at first. I told him that a year from now (at that time) everyone would want a pointy bass again, and that I was committed to being on the forefront of that trend. Maybe I shouldn't take all the credit, but the pointy '80's guitar thing did make a big comeback. Dave came to love the Lado. It has a headstock like a bayonet and I play it like it's a weapon. What's not to love? |
